Saying good-bye

Today I had to say good bye to most of my friends at church, it was rather surreal. I don't think that I have completely realized I won't be back, something that certainly highlighted that was when I nearly told one person that I would see her next week. Instead, when the Milwaukee 3rd ward convenes at 1 pm next Sunday, I'll be getting ready for my Monday tasks, or possibly writing my promised review of Air India.

Things that made my last day easier include:

  • Handing out business cards with my e-mail and this blog's address on them.
  • Knowing that I'm going to a cool enough place that I might actually get some visitors.
  • Having way to much too distract me while I plan to move across the ocean.
Concerning the cards, it is really easy to make your own business cards, and I recommend it if you are someone who ever needs to give out your contact information as pulling a card out of your wallet, purse, whatever is much easier and less time consuming than looking for a pen and paper and then writing it all out, and it solves problems of unreadable handwriting and unfamiliar spellings. Avery offers a variety of print your own options along with downloadable templates to make designing and printing the cards easier.

I'm finally on my way!

Yes, after all this time and my extended absence from blogging, the paperwork for my visa is ready and I am making the final preparations for my journey to Frankfurt. This has kept me fairly busy with planning and preparations and learning from my planning and preparations. Not to mention that I want to change some things around on the blog, but now that I have an address that I am happier with and what I hope is a better blog title, the rest of the changes should be comparatively minor.

Airfare:

Kayak.com is awesome. I started looking for my airline tickets on Expedia and Priceline, and got some decent looking deals from them, but it was when I looked on Kayak that I found some really great deals, at much better prices. So definitely check this fun little site out the next time you are looking for a good deal on airfare.

Temporary Housing:

The housing search continues, but for temporary, temporary housing there is
bedandbreakfast.de which has some fairly inexpensive choices for overnight accommodation.
The only thing to be careful of is the fact that you need to double check to make certain that the room you are interested in includes a private bathroom if that is something important to you.

Kayak also offers a search for hotels in and around your destination, sortable by price, star rating, popularity, brand name and several other criteria. It's something to look into for the first week.
